Masala Puri

Easy way to make street food Masala Puri | 2022

Masala Puri is an Indian snack and famous street food recipe made of dried green peas. This form of Chaat is loved by so many and can be had as it is without any accompaniments.

Ingredients

  • Dried Peas – 1/2 Cup
  • Potato – 2
  • Oil – 1 table spoon + 2 tea spoon
  • Onion (Chopped) – 1
  • Garlic (Chopped) – 2 cloves
  • Ginger (Chopped) – a piece
  • Green Chili (Chopped) – 2
  • Tomato (Chopped)
  • Kashmiri Chili Powder – 1 tea spoon
  • Garam Masala Powder – 1 tea spoon
  • Chaat Masala – 1 tea spoon
  • Turmeric Powder – 1/4 tea spoon
  • Salt – 1 tea spoon
  • Water as required
  • Coriander Leaves

To make masala puri:-

  • Puri
  • Peas Masala
  • Mint Chutney
  • Tamarind Chutney
  • Onion (Chopped)
  • Tomato (Chopped)
  • Chili Powder
  • Chaat Masala
  • Amchur Powder
  • Sev
  • Coriander Leaves

Method:

  1. Soak the dried peas overnight Pressure cook the peas and potatoes for about 5-6 whistles.
  2. Take some of the boiled peas and keep them aside.
  3. Peel the potatoes and add it to the peas Mash everything and keep the mixture aside
  4. Heat oil in a pan, add onions, ginger, garlic and green chilies.
  5. Saute them till the onions are transparent.
  6. Let the sauteed ingredients come to room temperature.
  7. Add them to a mixer jar, add tomatoes Grind everything to a smooth paste by adding some water Heat a pan with oil, add the ground masala, add some water, turmeric powder, red chili powder, garam masala, chaat masala, salt.
  8. Mix everything well Add about 1/2 cup of water.

  9. Cook the masala for 10 mins.
  10. Add the mashed peas and potatoes.
  11. Add 2 cups of water and mix well.
  12. Add the kept aside peas and coriander leaves Close and cook for 15 mins on medium flame.
  13. Turn off the stove and keep it aside Take the puris in a plate, crush them roughly.
  14. Pour the peas masala over the puris Add mint chutney, sweet chutney, onions, tomatoes, red chili powder, chaat masala, amchur powder, sev and coriander leaves Serve the Masala Puri hot.
